Using a mix of existing library footage, new footage, motion graphics and music leaning towards ‘Bourne’ crossed with ’24’, our Mercedes film was an interesting challenge that turned out just how we wanted it to and with a happy client to boot.
The most challenging part and also the most fun, was using ‘Mocha’ for the first time on a commercial project. For people familiar with the software despite its power, its often not an exact science and requires the patience of a saint to achieve the desired results. Motion tracking vans into the early hours is not for the faint heartened and often lead to multiple attempts to stop the graphics being run over by a 10 tonne truck.
A labour of love indeed, but a great project to work on for ‘Mercedes UK’ – the final film is played in dealerships across the country to highlight the range of business vans and lorries available to customers in the UK market.
Edited in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Effects, (both CC versions) with a little help from Imagineer Systems and their fabulous motion tracking software ‘Mocha’ for After Effects.
